The Gorman-Rupp Company was founded in 1933 during the worst depression in U.S. history. It was during this year that J.C. Gorman and H.E. Rupp, two enterprising engineers from Mansfield, Ohio, pooled $1,500 – along with other considerable talents and fortitude – and began a pump manufacturing business within the walls of a barn on the outskirts of town. They were well aware that any business starting out in 1933 would face extreme hardships if not utter failure, so they had to carefully devise a strategic business plan, to ensure their ultimate success.
The Gorman-Rupp mission was simple: to establish a line of the superior products and—only when they were positive that their success was inevitable—they would enter the pumping business with the best, most efficient products available. The plan worked, and since then Gorman-Rupp has established itself as a premier leader in water pumps of every type, from the smallest basement sump pumps, to some of the largest custom-built pumps available.
Today Gorman-Rupp Industries has several high-quality divisions and subsidiaries for water pumps, including American Machine and Tool Company. (AMT), the Patterson Pump Company, Gorman-Rupp of Canada Unlimited, and IPT Pumps. Gorman-Rupp has also established a high-speed delivery system, entitled “Off-The-Shelf” or “OTS,” through which products are shipped almost immediately from the supplier to the customer. With OTS, products can be shipped the same day, ensuring a much higher level of customer satisfaction per order.

Comments about OTS 2" IPT Portable High Pressure Pump with 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Engine:
If you need a high pressure fire-fighting pump that operates via a dependable gasoline engine, you can't find a better product on the market unless you're ready to spend several thousand dollars. [$] I installed two 1.5" discharge lines controlled by two ball valves and equipped with 1.5" fire hoses 100 ft each. We live in a high-hazard brush fire zone up a private canyon with no public water system. I plumbed the pump into our private water system consisting of a deep well, pressure pumps, and a 5000 gallon storage tank, which was required by the fire department. Thanks a whole lot for this great value.

Comments about OTS 2" IPT Portable High Pressure Pump with 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Engine:
Pump and engine are bolted together with no base plate. I will build one. It said comes with handle which it didn't. Talks about a dipstick but has none. It did come with a good metal strainer for the suction hose. Starts easy but you have to work with the choke. Pump is heavy and appears quite sturdy.
I have only tested it with 100 ft of 1 1/2 in hose and a simple cone nozzle with a 1/2 in orifice. It primed in a minute, only 3ft of lift.
It shot a lot of water 100ft. You have to hold the nozzle tight with both hands. You can throttle the engine down for less pressure and flow. The engine will probably have more power once broke in.
I'm impressed and happy with the unit. The power and quality can't be beat for the price.
